Wood stripping is a delicate process; it requires attention, knowledge and must always be approached with care.
The usage of a caustic solution to strip paint from hardwood, such as oak, ash, beech or even walnut, can cause unexpected damage on the structure of the wood, including cracks in the wood grain and change of colours to dark green or black.
At Old Door Stripping we offer non-caustic and non-hazardous removal of paint for all types of hardwood furniture from external and internal doors, to antique and contemporary furniture, including tables, chairs, cabinets, cupboards, beds and many more.
The non-caustic process uses water soluble chemical and can be used for stripping all types of hardwood without causing any harm of the hard wood or change of its base natural colour.

Oak Wood

The lovely light colour of the oak can turn dull and grey if met with the caustic soda which is used in the dipping process. The non-caustic process will ensure that the colour finish is removed with no toxic residues on the surface after the paint is removed.

Beach Wood

The non-caustic stripping is the best choice for beech wood furniture, considering that it is an extremely dry hard wood intolerant to dampness, which can significantly increase the chances of wood warping.

Walnut Wood

The walnut wood is known for its strength, straight grain and its rich chocolate brown colour. As a representative of the hardwood type, the walnut can easily discolour or show grain cracks when stripped with caustic soda. This is why it is the perfect candidate for non-caustic paint removing process.

Dependant from the nature of the wood and the finish that was applied on the wood previously, the process ensures up to 95% removal of the paint. Additionally, the usage of the water soluble chemical, makes this process safe and environment friendly.
